Horizons is seeking candidates for the position of Lead Teacher in a fourth grade classroom (rising 5th graders) and middle grades English Language Arts (rising 7th-9th graders). This is a summer only position for our program June 5th-July 14th, with additional dates of paid training in the spring. Duties include working with a classroom of approximately 16 students during a six-week summer enrichment program. Teachers are responsible for planning and instruction of different subject areas using project based learning techniques. Teachers maintain attendance records, write lesson plans, teach lessons, and provide evaluative feedback. Teachers will work in partnership with approximately 1 volunteer and 1 co-teacher in the classroom each day. Teachers will oversee and supervise assigned volunteers and co-teacher, delegating appropriately and submitting a final evaluation on the individuals. Teachers will be assigned to car-pool or bus supervision duty over the course of the summer as well as supervision of outdoor recreational activities and field trips. Teachers are required to attend all field trips, participate in swimming and in daily meals with the students, attend Family Night, Teacher Meetings as well as all other duties that may be required by their supervisor.
This position requires current experience as a classroom teacher, valid state teaching certification, willingness to complete and pass a fingerprint based background screen and provide three professional references.

Horizons seeks a professional, caring individual with the ability to implement strategies to engage students in leading an active, healthy lifestyle. Candidate must work as a team player to help fulfill the Horizons mission. This is a summer only position for our program June 5th-July 14th.
This position will work directly with students in a range of grade levels during a six-week summer enrichment program. This position is responsible for planning and instruction of safe and engaging physical activity, health, wellness and recreational activities utilizing standards from the Power Up for 30 curriculum for children of varying levels of ability. Rec Coordinator maintains attendance records, provides written plans and completes written documentation of activities. Coordinator will work in partnership with volunteers, co-teachers, and classroom teachers.
The Coordinator will oversee and supervise all activities related to structured recreation time at their site, and will be responsible for identifying needed resources, equipment or facilities and work with Horizons to obtain supplies and resources in a timely manner. Working with Horizons staff, the Coordinator will identify, coordinate and oversee collaboration with community resources and services that may bring added value to our program, field trips etc. and incorporate into weekly activities. The coordinator may be assigned to car-pool or bus supervision duty over the course of the summer.
Coordinator will attend Teacher Meetings as well as all other duties that may be required by their supervisor. The Coordinator will plan and execute both indoor and outdoor activities ensuring that all students receive mandated amounts of physical exercise daily. The Coordinator will Introduce students to concepts of team work and Horizons values of good sportsmanship and participation. The Coordinator will work with all students to develop and track personal fitness goals over the course of the 6 week program.
This position requires experience working with children in a recreational, after-school or summer setting particularly in the areas of physical well-being, health, sports or PE, current CPR and First Aid training, willingness to complete and pass a fingerprint based background screen and provide three professional references.
